The Kitchen @ Foster (Branding)
Stage 2 – Branding
– The Brief
To design all the branding and signage to go with the new interior scheme for Foster Refectory (The Kitchen @ Foster). We were also asked to consider UCLans international students and incorporate them into the branding.
– Our Approach
A colour scheme was chosen for the branding as well as a new name – The Kitchen @ Foster. “The Kitchen” symbolises home grown, home made, organic, heathy food that has been freshly prepared. The kitchen is also at the heart of most homes and will remind students of home cooked meals. The @ represents free wifi across campus and to encourage students to use the refectory as a study space. The brand could also roll out across all campus refectories, so it could be The Kitchen @ Harrington, The Kitchen @ Greenbanks etc. The colours, coffee brown, yellow and grass green were chosen as they are natural, earthy colours which would encourage and promote healthy eating. We also incorporated different languages into the graphic work to reflect the international students and create more of an international environment.
